Are more foreign nurses the key to solving nursing shortage?

The story is here.

It is one part of the puzzle. We need some nurse immigration relief. There are persons who live in the United States at this time who have been here since childhood who have nursing degrees but our current immigration laws leave them without the ability to get a license and to get into the workforce. We also need visa availability for foreign students who graduate nursing school.

The other parts of the puzzle are better pay for registered nurses, better working conditions and better benefits. Nurses carry the healthcare system on their backs both literally and figuratively. While health care expenses have exploded along with the salaries of many health professionals, nurses have experienced none of the benefits of the aging of the Baby Boomers and their demand for more and more health care services as they get older.
