NY Times covers those prey on unlawful immigrants

There are two awful secrets about legal services for immigrants:

1. Those lawyers who betray their clients for money.
2. Those immigrants or first or second generation Americans who betray their own immigrant communities just to turn a buck.

And, actually there is a third secret that is even worse:

3. Citizenship and Immigration Services pretty much knows who these people are. But, does nothing in most cases. I don’t know if it is that USCIS is too busy. Or, if USCIS likes getting incompetent and fraudulent filings which lead to removals.

In Oklahoma, the state bar association as well does little to nothing to combat the unauthorized practice of law by so-called “notario publicos,” non-lawyers who fill out immigration forms and provide legal advice to immigrants.
